Performance
According to Chevrolet, the new Corvette E-Ray can get from 0-60 mph in just 2.5 seconds and blasts through the ¼-mile at 10.5 seconds at 130 mph. Thanks to the 1.1 kWh liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery pack, this Corvette, for the first time, also features e-all-wheel drive, as well as all-season tires. Michelin Pilot All Season 4 tires are standard, and for a small fee you can option Michelin Pilot Sport 4Ses.
Carbon Ceramic disc brakes with Brembo four-piston calipers front and rear are carried over from the Z06 to help the electric Corvette shave speed quickly and with authority.
The Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray has the 6.2-liter engine from the regular C8 Corvette, and the wider body, carbon ceramic brakes, and wider tires from the Z06. The E-Ray gets a 1.1 kWh battery that adds horsepower and torque to an already impressive package. Combined power figures are: 655 total horsepower and 595 lb-ft of torque, all going through an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Thanks to the use of its naturally aspirated V8 motor and battery pack, the E-Ray does not have an added Gas Guzzler Tax. The EPA-estimated fuel economy for the electrified Corvette is the same as the standard Corvette Stingray with 16 mpg city and 24 mpg highway, respectively.
The E-Ray has what Chevrolet calls “Stealth Mode”, which allows for pure electric driving on the street up to 45 mph.
The Corvette E-Ray comes in both coupe and convertible form and comes as standard with Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 with three different settings to allow drivers to choose their desired soft or firm ride. The Performance App displays technical data and insights on the in-car infotainment system, such as which motor is doing what in terms of performance at any given moment.
Exterior
The 2024 Corvette E-Ray gets a unique front fascia to differentiate it from both the Stingray and the Z06 models.
While the wider body is borrowed from the Corvette Z06, with its wider rear wheel arches to fit the large super car-sized tires, which are 275/30/ZR20 front and 345/25/ZR21 rear, the E-Ray wears all-season tires to aid its e-AWD system for year-round use. Staggered 20-inch and 21-inch front and rear tires continue the super car appearance and abilities.
The Corvette has a wheelbase of 107.2 inches, is 48.6 inches tall, and has a width of 79.7 inches.
Interior
A strict two-seater, the Corvette is a comfortable place for both driver and passenger and features a layout like a fighter jet cockpit to help keep the driver focused. The flat top and bottom steering wheel features paddles at the 10 and 2 positions.
Standard is an 8-inch multimedia touchscreen infotainment display with Google built in to allow owners to customize their experience with various apps, along with Google Maps and real-time navigation with traffic updates.
2LZ and 3LZ models have a wireless phone charger, and a Bose 10-speaker system is standard, but buyers can get the 14-speaker Bose Performance Series on 2LZ and 3LZ trim levels.
The front and rear trunks have a combined capacity of 12.5 cu.ft.
Technology
The 2024 E-Ray has an 80 lb permanent magnet synchronous AC motor that delivers 160 horsepower and 125 lb-ft of torque. During performance driving, the battery motor assists the naturally-aspirated V8 to make optimal power and torque, equaling a total of 655 horsepower and 595 lb-ft of torque. During normal driving and when braking, the battery system gets recharged. If you use the Charge+ button the car will immediately charge the 1.1 kWh battery to 100% and give you the full ability of both the battery and the V8 engine.
Safety
The 2024 Corvette E-Ray comes with an array of safety features for drivers. With standard Rear Park Assist, Automatic Emergency Braking, Following Distance Indicator, Forward Collision Alert Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning. 1LZ models include an HD Rear Vision Camera, and stepping up to the 2LZ and 3LZ E-Ray gets buyers the same rear camera but with front curb view, so you don’t scuff your bumper when pulling up to a parking space.
