2025 Chevrolet Colorado

Performance

Powering the 2025 Colorado is Chevy’s proven 2.7-liter Turbocharged Inline-4, the TurboMax, which features Active Fuel Management and Auto Start/Stop technology. In 2023 and 2024, the turbocharged 2.7-liter had multiple output options. However, for 2025, all trim levels feature the highest-output version of the TurboMax, with an output of 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque.  

The 2025 Colorado is available in five different trim levels: Work Truck (WT), LT, Trail Boss, Z71, and ZR2. All trim levels come with a Hydra-Matic 8L80 Gen II 8-speed automatic transmission. Two-wheel drive is standard on the WT and LT but can be optioned with four-wheel drive. The ZR2, Trail Boss, and Z71 are only available with 4WD.  

When properly equipped, the Colorado can tow up to 7,700 lbs. The ZR2, however, is able to tow 6,000 lbs due to its special off-road shocks and suspension.   

Because the Colorado is so off-road and towing-ready, especially with the Trail Boss, Z71, and ZR2, Chevy has made sure to give the truck selectable drive modes that allow you to use a knob on the center console to change between five drive modes that include Normal, Tow/Haul, Off-Road, Terrain, and Baja.

The Multimatic Dampers allow the Colorado ZR2 to be the most capable off-road Colorado ever. Even though they were created to be amazing when driving off the beaten path, the DSSV Dampers also provide a stable and even ride on any road. Thanks to a special spool-valve design the dampers can be endlessly tuned for the right balance of stability, control, and ride on every surface.  

For 2025, all Chevy Colorado models come with a 21.3-gallon fuel tank. The EPA estimated the fuel economy of the 2WD WT and LT trims to be 20 mpg city and 24 mpg highway. When optioning 4WD and picking the Trail Boss and Z71, they will achieve up to 18 city and 22 highway miles per gallon. The top-of-the-line ZR2 gets 17 mpg city and highway. The ZR2 Bison package subtracts one mpg from the average miles per gallon for both driving cycles.

Exterior

The Chevrolet Colorado is just the right size for many buyers. It has a total length of 213 inches (213.2 inches for the Trail Boss and 212.7 inches for the ZR2) and a 131.4-inch wheelbase. The WT and LT trims have a max height of 78.8 inches, the Z71 is 79.6 inches tall, and the Trail Boss and ZR2 are 79.9 and 81.9 inches, respectively.  

A vehicle’s front track width is very important for the truck’s stability when driving in various situations, such as down the highway, on back roads, or when off-roading. The standard track width of the Colorado WT and LT is 62.8 inches wide, while the Z71 is two-tenths of an inch less wide. The Trail Boss and ZR2 are similar, with 66.2 and 66.3 inches, respectively.  

No matter how you intend to use your Colorado, there will be very few obstacles that the truck can tackle. The WT and LT have a 7.9-inch ground clearance. The Z71 features an extra inch of clearance, whereas the Trail Boss is 9.5 inches off the ground. The ZR2 rides even higher with its 10.7 inches of ground clearance.  

Part of each truck’s ground clearance can revolve around the size of its wheels and tires. The base trim levels come standard with 17-inch wheels, and the Z71 and Trail Boss get 18-inch wheels with 32-inch tires, all-terrain tires, and a 2-inch factory lift on the Trail Boss. The ZR2 gets an extra 3 inches of height thanks to a factory-installed lift and then 33-inch tires with 17-inch wheels.  

Every Colorado model is a four-door and comes standard with a 5.1-foot bed with 45.5 inches between the wheel housings. Chevrolet offers eight standard cargo tie-down areas with the ability to have an extra nine flexible tie-downs, which makes for the potential of a class-leading 17 total ways to strap your cargo down. There are two tire grooves in the front bed wall if you are hauling a motorcycle or bicycle, and the tailgate can be positioned between closed and partially open to be able to carry longer items. The tailgate supports 500 lbs of weight. The tailgate also comes with a storage bin inside the actual tailgate.  

Chevrolet offers available LED lighting, spray-in bedliner, remote locking and unlocking of the tailgate, 110-volt outlet, and multiple types of bed covers.

Interior

Stepping into the Chevy, you will be greeted by cloth or Evotex seat trim in WT, LT, and Trail Boss trims, while Z71 and ZR2 models get Evotex or leather seating surfaces. The Colorado comfortably seats five passengers. 

All models come standard with an 8-inch digital instrument cluster display, which offers drivers all the information they need while driving, traveling off-road, or towing.  

Chevrolet offers the WT and Trail Boss with interiors ready for work and everyday conditions. The LT features silver accents throughout, soft-wrapped trim, and a wrapped steering wheel. The Z71 has jet-black and red accents throughout. 

Technology

The Colorado features an 11.3” touchscreen infotainment display plus an 8-inch digital gauge cluster and the segment-first Google Built-In with Maps, Music, and various vehicle functions, among other things. There are now 10 different camera angles accessible via the infotainment display, including an underbody camera for Z71 and ZR2 models, the first of any truck in this class.  

Off-roading is an important part of this mid-size truck’s capabilities, and with the all-new Off-Road Performance display, you will have access to various pieces of data through a smartphone app. When using the app, you will be able to look at data readouts for Overlanding, Terrain, and Baja settings. This will allow you to see details like altitude, GPS guidance, pitch, roll, tire pressures, g-force, wheel-slip indicator, along with the status of your transfer case.  

With Hitch Guidance and Hitch View, it has never been easier to line up your trailer hitch when reversing up to a trailer.

Safety and Driver Assistance

Every Chevy Colorado comes standard with Chevy Safety Assist, which features Forward Collision Alert, Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Following Distance Indicator, Blind Zone Steering Assist with Extended Trailer View, and IntelliBeam® automatic high-beam assist.  

Optional safety features include Rear Cross Traffic Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, HD Surround Vision, and Rear Pedestrian Alert.
