Performance

The 2025 Chevrolet Suburban has three available engines from which customers can choose. The standard engine is the tried-and-true 5.3-liter V-8 that produces 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. The other available V-8 is the venerable 6.2-liter that makes 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Across the entire lineup—including Z71 for the first time—you can also option the uprated Duramax 3.0-liter inline-six-cylinder turbodiesel that puts out 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque. All engines utilize a 10-speed automatic transmission, and the two V-8s feature Dynamic Fuel Management (DFM) and variable valve timing (VVT). Rear-wheel drive is standard, while four-wheel drive is optional.

No matter which engine you spec for your 2025 Suburban, they can all tow and haul. Maximum payload ratings range up to 1,750 pounds. You can also tow up to 8,200 pounds. New and enhanced trailering features include Trailer Tire Health, Mobile Trailering App Load Rating Info, Forward Path Indication, Boat Ramp Assist, and Trailer Navigation.

Solid fuel economy is achievable in the 2025 Suburban. The Duramax turbodiesel can return around 27 mpg on the highway, translating into a range of up to 756 miles.

Air Ride Adaptive Suspension is available on the 2025 High Country and Z71, along with RST for the first time. It offers automatic load-leveling and ride-height adjustment. With Magnetic Ride Control, which is standard on the 2025 Premier and High Country and available on RST and Z71, sensors continually “read” the road 1,000 times per second to alter the damping rate of the shocks almost instantly.

Exterior

For 2025, the Suburban gets a revised look with a new front grille design, which includes a bolder signature lighting design. Each of the six trims—LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier, and High Country—get their own grille design that makes it easy to identify. The Z71 incorporates skid plates and a high-approach front fascia, while the High Country leans in on a sport-luxury theme, with a sophisticated balance of black and Galvano chrome trim.

Wheel sizes vary, starting from 18 inches all the way up to the High Country and RST’s available 24-inch alloy wheels. The 2025 Suburban introduces two new exterior colors: Cypress Gray and Lakeshore Blue Metallic.

Interior

The 2025 Chevrolet Suburban can accommodate up to nine passengers, with either a bench seat or captain’s chairs for the second row. The third row always seats three occupants.

A new dashboard gives the driver improved confidence through the 11.0-inch driver information center. It is customizable for the information you need. The center console is redesigned with new storage options and a repositioned, more convenient wireless charging pad. Plus, the driver is greeted with a new steering wheel design.

With all of the seats up, the Suburban has 41.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row. With the third row folded, there is 93.8 cubic feet behind the second row of seats. With both the second and third rows folded flat, this large Chevrolet SUV opens up to have 144.7 cubic feet of total cargo volume.

Technology

New for the 2025 Suburban is a 17.7-inch infotainment touchscreen. The new system features Google built-in, incorporating Google Assistant to use your voice to get directions or to interface with other Google apps. With the larger display, you have multiple different camera views. If you are towing, the Suburban includes a transparent trailer view, rear trailer view, and picture-in-picture side view when buyers opt for the Advanced Trailering System.

Also available on the 2025 Chevrolet Suburban is Super Cruise, one of the first hands-free driver assistance technologies for vehicles. Super Cruise is available on Premier and High Country trim levels.

Safety and Driver Assistance

As with all Chevrolet cars, trucks, and SUVs, Chevrolet Safety Assist is standard and features Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Following Distance Indicator, Front Pedestrian Braking, and IntelliBeam auto high beams.

Also featured on the 2025 Suburban are Adaptive Cruise Control, HD Surround Vision, a Head-Up Display, Rear Camera Mirror, Rear Camera Mirror Washer, and Rear Pedestrian Alert.

It is expected that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) will give the 2025 Chevrolet Suburban excellent crash test ratings. With a maximum of 5 stars in all crash tests, the Suburban previously got 4 stars for the front passenger and 5 for the driver in a head-on collision. For NHTSA’s side crash ratings, the large Chevy scored 5 stars in their side barrier and pole crash tests. With 3 out of 5 stars in the rollover resistance test, in the event of a “single-vehicle, loss-of-control scenario” the large SUV did well for being so tall and long. NHTSA gave it a rollover risk of just 21%.
