Motor1.com Best Truck Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison

Automotive enthusiast site Motor1.com began its discussion by pointing out how competitive the truck market has become, particularly for those who “want to look rad, haul stuff, and go like hell.” While there are plenty of off-road trucks out there, Chevrolet of Spring Valley is proud to tell you that Motor1.com declared the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison its 2024 Best Truck of the Year.

Technically, the truck is a Colorado ZR2 with the Bison Edition option package. The Bison Edition results from Chevrolet handing a ZR2 to the aftermarket off-road specialists at American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) and saying, “Here, put everything on it that will make it better.” AEV was more than happy to oblige and applied the following to the already quite capable ZR2:

  • AEV® stamped steel front skid plate
  • AEV® transfer case skid plate
  • AEV® rear differential skid plate
  • AEV® fuel tank skid plate
  • AEV® rear stamped steel bumper with heavy-duty cast recovery points
  • AEV® stamped steel front bumper
  • Multimatic Jounce Control Dampers
  • 17-inch Beadlock capable carbon flash metallic wheels with AEV® center caps
  • AEV® wheel flares
  • LT315/70R17 blackwall 35-inch OD MT tires and spare
  • Bed-Mounted Vertical Spare Tire Carrier
  • AEV® exterior and interior branding

The Bison Edition package also requires the Colorado Safety Package, which includes:

  • Rear Park Assist
  • Rear Cross Traffic Braking
  • Blind Zone Steering Assist with Trailering

It is a lot of hardware, and Chevrolet isn’t shy about asking $11,750 for the additions since it creates…well…Motor1.com’s Best Truck of the Year.

Because this is applied to the ZR2, the truck is powered by the High Output 2.7-liter turbocharged inline-four, which produces 310 horsepower and a stunning 430 lb-ft of torque. But what truly impressed Motor1.com and many other reviewers were the Multimatic spool-valve dampers, which they described as offering “the Bison a ride quality so exceptional it’s beyond hyperbole.”

These Multimatic dampers are already included in the ZR2 grade, but their ability to deliver an impressive on-road ride quality in a truck that also possesses the Bison Edition’s off-road capability is simply something that must be experienced to be believed. Again, in Motor1.com’s words, “Put simply, the ZR2 is the best-handling truck ever built, and the Bison inherits that quality.”

The Bison Edition Package, on top of the $49,090 ZR2, gets you a $60,000 truck. That may seem like a lot for a mid-size truck, but the best seldom comes cheap. As Motor1.com sums up its report, “If you’re in the market for the baddest truck of 2024, Bison has you covered.”

Since the Bison Edition is so specialized, Chevrolet of Spring Valley doesn’t always keep one in our inventory; our sales professionals can find one for you.
