Heated Windshield Wipers Will Save Your Winter
No matter what climate cycle we live in, Southeastern Minnesota gets the brunt of winter with record snowstorms and blizzard-like conditions that close highways and schools. We deal with it heartily, as we do everything else around here.
Our cars, trucks, and SUVs also take the brunt of our winters. In the past, you had to pry your windshield wipers off the frozen windshield to free them. Then you had to scrape the windshield to make the wipers work on the glass. You also had to flip the windshield washer stalk while blasting the defroster. What a pain!
However, things are looking up. You do not need to look any further than your windshield wipers. Chevrolet has been introducing heated windshield wipers on some of its newest models. We call it Heated Wiper Park. The windshield defroster keeps the base of the windshield heated for when the wiper blades are in the parked position. When deployed, the wipers are ready to wipe any excess snow or ice from the windshield. It works to melt ice and prevent the wipers from getting frozen in place during winter.
The Heated Wiper Park not only ensures that your front window will be clear of ice and snow quickly as the defroster works to kick-start the wiper blades, but it also results in longer wiper life in a climate where wipers can crack and warp in sub-freezing temperatures. This wiper blade feature has been tested in the coldest places on Earth—including Northern Minnesota. If it works up there, the Heated Wiper Park will work in our part of the state.
It works simply by starting your vehicle to activate the Heated Wiper Park—as long as the front defroster is on. You can do this below 45 degrees Fahrenheit. The Heated Wiper Park will turn off automatically 15 minutes after the first time you use it during a drive. It turns off after 10 minutes with every additional use in the same drive cycle.
Heated Wiper Park is available on the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox, Equinox EV, Blazer EV, Traverse, and other Chevrolet models. Check for availability when you ask for this feature.
